The Full Story
About
Erika 'Red' Stowall started dancing with a few close colleagues in the Fall of 2010. It was her way of transitioning back into performing after a 3 year hiatus. When Red first started this journey, it was not her intention to begin a dance company. However, on returning to the studio, she felt an awakening. The company was official founded in January 2011, debuting their first pieces, titled 'Mad and Madder'.

Big Red Wall Dance Company is a Detroit based dance company named after the founder. The company’s primary focus is creating work depicting the average black person’s story with honesty and empathy.
Mission
The Mission of Big Red Wall Dance Company is to create moving art, which embodies the resilience of the Black community. Portraying African American stories with true views and perspectives to create an accurate narrative of Black Lives, which then can be viewed on stage. BRW Dance’s purpose is to build a forum where communication can flourish, relationships can grow and broken ties can be mended.
Vision
The Vision of Big Red Wall Dance company is to transcribe African American experiences into performance storytelling.
